Bay CALLED THE DAY

This exhibition is comprised of 11 world-renowned photographers who all shot photos on January 22, 2023, the day of the Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational, aka The Eddie. The most prestigious surfing event on earth, this Eddie saw the biggest waves it has ever hosted in its 34-year-long history, a sight that tens of thousands of lucky people on the beach got to witness, as well as millions worldwide via live stream. The moments captured by these photographers tell a beautiful story: one of legendary rides, of a local community coming together and sharing aloha, of the lifeguards who risked their lives to save others’, of a North Shore lifeguard named Luke Shepardson winning the event between shifts, of a day that honored and commemorated the legacy of Eddie Aikau like none other. These images are what this magical and historic day looked like through a variety of lenses. Proceeds from each print sold will be donated to the Eddie Aikau Foundation

When it comes to catching the best waves in the world by the best surfers in the world. It’s only right for the Hawaiian Water Patrol to be present. The best of the best when it comes to ocean safety and navigating our shorelines.

They’ve trained many years to be able to handle any and every kind of situation the ocean throws their way. Putting themselves right in the danger zone to make sure everyone makes it back home safely.

In this image you see the Hawaiian Water Patrol taking a u-turn back to shore. Only when the waves reach its max and breaking point they find themselves on the run.
